That should depend on whether or not they are on the clock, which phone they use and the nature of the call along with a variety of other variables . There should be at least one unmonitored phone at every workplace. Personal business can not always be taking care of at a convenient time. Allotments must be made for a critical part of the company: the employee.

Generally not from the company you work for, though you have a legal expectation of privacy from law enforcement.

So, in most cases, because the company owns the phone system, they have reserved the right to monitor calls on that system.

Company time, company telephone, company can listen in, keep records of numbers dialed. If you use your personal cell phone, you at least can hope for a modicum of privacy, but don't count on that unless you are on your break time and out of the building.

no , unless you clock out , if you are getting paid there should be no personal calls , emails , or social conversations with coworkers . this is what breaks and lunch are for , when i see an employee talking on a cell phone i make sure to take it out of their paycheck , i won't mention the fact i am getting paid right now to play on the internet

You shouldn't be making or taking personal phone calls while at work. If it is an emergency, thats one thing. But otherwise use your cell phone away while on a break.

Not if you're using the company phone, on company time... you basically belong to the company under those circumstances.
