President Clinton, through his attorney, rebuked ABC for producing a "factually and incontrovertibly inaccurate" miniseries -- and walked the network through three make-believe scenes in the "the Path to 9/11" that defame people and misrepresent events during his administration. Clinton's spokesman later stepped up the pressure, condemning Disney as "despicable" for "airing a fictional version of what is a serious and emotional event for our country. No reputable organization," he said, "should dramatize 9-11 for a profit at the expense of the truth." The families of September 11 victims have weighed in on the controversy, telling "entertainers" not to "promote misleading or incorrect information as fact to the public." House and Senate Democratic leaders hammered Disney president and CEO Robert Iger, in letters that questioned the company's commitment to its "reputation ... as a corporation worthy of the trust of the American people and the United States Congress." Scholastic has pulled teaching materials off its website and has scrambled to adopt a plan to help teachers show students "the differences between factual reporting and a dramatization," but is still encouraging teachers to show their students this propaganda
I hear ABC is back in the edit room with “Path to 9/11” LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's only a tiny, temporary victory in the war of the political history rewriters against the truth. They'll get the final version that they want out in fifty years or so. 100 years from now everyone except a few nuts will agree that George Bush was the greatest president in history. That HE spread freedom and democracy in the Mideast. Who will be around to disprove them then?
If you examine the neglected stories in the history of the United States you will see how these "official historians" have spun the events of the past with lies, deceptions and distortion.
Like Bush said, "In my line of work you gotta keep repeating yourself over and over and over again until the truth sets in. You gotta catapult the propaganda".
Yes, there really are some things that Bush does understand and his long term view of history is one of them. Thats why he doesn't worry about his legacy and what the public opinion polls say. He knows the future shapers of public opinion will take good care of him when they write the official version.
Democracy is totally dead. It's the stupidity of the gullible american public that deserves the real blame. After all, how can you blame a baby for eating the candy?
So, to answer your question: I don't buy what the White House tells me, I don't buy what the history books tell me, I find out for myself.
Thank you.

Go to http://pol.moveon.org/abcdoc/ to sign MoveOn's petition to stop the movie.
An excerpt from: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14733545/
<< OLBERMANN: You were privy to everything the president read each day, you had daily access to him. Is there any truth to the principal insinuation here that he was distracted from terrorism by the Lewinsky affair?
SEAN MALONEY: Absolutely not. Let me tell you what. I was there. I saw the president every day during the entire Lewinsky episode, from the day it started to the day it ended. And it was my job to provide him with his daily workload, a mountain of stuff that goes through the Oval Office. And I can tell you, that guy was focused like a laser beam on doing his job. And you know what else I did, I saw all the national security information that went to the president every day, including all the information on the growing threat of al Qaeda. And I can tell you, this — President Clinton was focused like a laser beam on it. And I‘m just telling you as a guy who was there. It is a smear to say that he wasn‘t. It‘s a subjective view, there is no evidence to support it. And I can tell you, as a guy who was in the room, it‘s just not the case. And you know who else knew it? The American people. And that‘s why they stood by him, because he was doing his job. And that‘s why he enjoys the favorable ratings he has today.
OLBERMANN: Do you fear that people will actually believe the docudrama, and now put more blame on President Clinton than he deserves for the events that led up to 9/11?
MALONEY: Well, look, why would ABC be so careless with the truth? Let‘s be clear, there is no dispute that there are factual mistakes in this movie, and they are serious. They just say things that didn‘t happen. And ABC doesn‘t dispute that. Now, the president of ABC Entertainment has said it‘s critically important to get it right. So why not get it right? Why not clean this thing up, or take it down until you get it right? You know, I‘m a New Yorker, and those of us in New York are getting to celebrate the five-year anniversary of this terrible episode. And you know what we‘re thinking about? We‘re still getting on handle on what was in the toxic cloud that went out. The families are still grieving with their loss. This should be a nonpartisan day to come together. This is a terrible time, using falsehoods, to inject politics into this commemoration. I just don‘t know why ABC would do it. It‘s wrong. They ought to fix it. >>

Do you think we should buy what any person says about 9/11. Here we go again, another Kennedy or Elvis tale. There is are many stories out there that it makes them all unbelievable. There is truth in most of them but also there is a lot of just plain BS in all of them. If the truth was put in front of you any of you none of you would believe it. The truth is there and it is not what most of you think it is. A few do know and have said what it is and they are criticized for it. It has happened and there has been a lot happen since because of it. It is time to deal with what is and not what was and can not be changed. It is so easy to blame as long as it is not you. Well it is all of you that could have voted since 1990 and did not do it. Blame the government and who put the people there. Time to move on to something that might make a difference to you.

Even though the 9/11 Commission's report backs up the show ABC is sadly caving.
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2006/9/7/203153.shtml?s=lh
"The president had yet to make a finding that it was OK to kill bin Laden. The reason he had not is that he did not yet know bin Laden's connection to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The reason he did not know that is that he did not fast-track the investigation.
"A second time, we did fire missiles but alerted the Pakistani military to our plans and they tipped off bin Laden, and he escaped." Dick Morris (he who got Clinton re-elected in '96)
Where was Clinton when the WTC was bombed in '93? He didn't bother going to NYC or to any of the victims funerals - where exactly do you think the Commander in Chief belongs after an attack on American soil?

Is there any proof that ABC did not follow the facts as determined by the 9/11 Commission? Or are they just succombing to the threats of the left?

So you are saying that Bill Clinton is bullying the network to supress their freedom of speech. What a great thing for the former leader of the USA to do. I guess that proves it, the Bill of Rights mean nothing to the Democrats.
Where was the democrats passion for accuracy when Farenheit 9/11 came out, it also dramatizes and is a fictional account of an historic event. There have been many movies and dramatizations that have been focused on 9/11 and no one has objected yet to them. Why wait until now?
The Democrats and their flexible standards, one set for them, one for everyone else is laughable.

What does ABC doing a work of fiction have to do with republicans?
Just because the democrats don't like something, doesn't mean it's the republicans doing something.
At least ABC is admitting that it's show is a work of fictioin, as opposed to the lies that the democrats put out about fahrenheit 911, loose change, and loose change 2 being fact.

Notice all the discussion and news about this "entertainment event"?
Have you considered these politcal accusations may be a very clever approach by ABC to get lots and lots of free advertising for the show. So they can edit to to blandness now, and still get great ratings.

I'm sure the truth lies somewhere between the stories the right and the left tell us. However, I find it pretty amazing that the people that are so upset now were the same ones singing the praises of Farenheight 911. What happened to equal time in the media?

No! They still won't admit to "Able Danger" and all the intel that was generated regarding the hijacker flight students in San diego! Unreal!!! They won't admit that something seriously nefarious that would shake this country to the core kept the government from stopping Osama and the hijackers.
They knew something was up, and so did the middle class worker bees in the FBI, CIA, NSA... but the higher ups, the decision makers had other plans. Scary!
