Innocence...we so often take for granted that we live in a country that for so long has never had foreign troops in combat on our soil. 9/11 brought world conflicts to us and made every citizen suddenly realize the horror of war. Many people in other countries face war everyday. 9/11 was a moment that the US cried out in suffering in one voice, which had never happened before, and I pray never happens again.

The idea that America is impervious to harm. The last attack on American soil was Pearl Harbor. I think we all felt we were safe.
Also I think innocence. To witness and live through such tragedy was definately a growing up experience. At the time I was 19 and still had optimisim in the world. I think I lost that innocence and had become more jaded about the world

The list of the way our lives changed that day could go on for ever.

I lost a lot of respect for our government's so called system of "checks and balances" which oversees the security of this nation. I feel the ball was dropped and our intelligence agencies were asleep behind the wheel. They were naive to think such a thing would never happen.

I also lost my faith in our Government....It made me sick to see our president sit there in a class room reading a book to kids and not even flinching when he was told about the attacks...If I were president I would have jumped up and ran out of the room and started figuring out what was going on rather then Sitting there like a retard trying to figure out the next sentence of the book.

All we lost was some good people. What we lost since is trust in our government and reputation to the outside world.

My sense of security. I had never thought it would happen in this country. Since 9/11, things have changed so much. I wish we could be united like we were during those couple of ours afterward.
