I think positive emotions, such as love, can and should be boundless. But expressions of your love have to stay within legal, ethical, institutional, religious, and moral boundaries. Most importantly, the other person's feelings have to be considered, because its about them, after all! Other emotions, such as jealousy or hatred, are not the same as love, and all people have the inate ability to temper those hurtful emotions. Even a little bit of a negative emotion is too much, since it dulls your capacity to love.

I would say that it becomes too much when it evloves from an emotion to an obsession and the only way that you can remove yourself is to take yourself away from the situation and of course i realize that is sometimes (mostly) easier said then done. right about the time you start to loose yourself would be the time to deal with it.

Depends what emotion it is, but for the most part, any emotion when it reaches the stage of obsession, is too much. That's practically speaking, of course.

any amount of emotions felt are not too much but to express any emotions can be too much of expression and that level varies from person to person both in both ways - the one who expresses and the one to whom it is expressed.

When your emotion is leading you to become a servant (doing everything for the other person, while he/she become lazy and wait for you to do everything for him/her) to the other person. That's too much.
