The metallic taste is not caused by iron deficiency, healthy women with a normal diet do not become iron deficient so early in pregnancy; this taste is more likely caused by changes in hormones and usually does disappear between 12 and 14 weeks. Unfortunately there is no magic cure so things like mints and gum as already recommended are probably the best answer. As for the nausea this is because the hormones of early pregnancy cause your blood sugar to swing so eating little and often, especially complex carbs such as oats and wholegrains helps to stabilise your sugars. I tell my clients to eat something little ever 2 hours or so and if the nausea is too bad to try something sugary first to relieve the nausea quickly followed by some carb to maintain the sugars. If you do have acid reflux, or heartburn a medicine called Gaviscon is the drug of choice. It is safe to take throughout your pregnancy.

Anytime there is a metal taste in your mouth it is from an infection. The only other time you get a metal taste is when you are quitting smoking. Assuming that is not the case, he really needs an antibiotic for the infection. If you cannot get an antibiotic you can get two different things from the herb shop that will kill infection of this sort. You can get a strong form of Oregano either in liquid or in pill form, known to kill infection, and colloidal silver. Rinsing with the silver and using it as a nostril spray with also kill the infection. For the most potent form of help he really needs to see a doc, and get on some antibiotics like Keflex.

I had the same problem. It showed up at 6 weeks. First it was like I was sucking on a penny but then it got worse like I was chewing on tinfoil. I couldn't eat anything sweet or it got even worse. I asked the same question about how to get rid of it and was given every suggestion under the moon because everyone is different and not everything works the same for them.
The only way I found a little relief was to chew ice and eat olives. I know it sounds crazy but they were the only 2 suggestions that helped even a little. The taste disappeared for the most part at about 9 1/2 weeks. I sill get it occasionally but its very rare.

When I had that awful taste in my mouth I would eat something like a mint or gum. I also always had tums with me which helped a lot!!! Try taking tums and sipping ginger ale. That will help settle your stomach. It will probably pass in a few weeks when you get into your 2nd trimester. I was also always drinking water. A cup of tea helps too. Just make sure to sip it slowly. You can eat some light crackers with it like saltines.

Anytime you have a metallic taste in your mouth it's from an iron deficiency and you need to take iron pills. Just keep taking your prenatal vitamins and ask your OB to check your iron at your next check up so youll know for certain whether or not to take an added vitamin along with your prenatals. And relax! You'll be fine.

Try rennie soft chews (no advertisement intended!)...they soak up acid and taste like mints so they might help...you can take up to ten a day which could help keep it at bay...also look into herbalism, but MAKE SURE you consult your doctor because certain herbs when pregnant are very dangerous, good luck!

I suffered with really bad morning sickness when I was pregnant!
My throat burnt all the time because of the stomach acid I was bringing up! I couldn't eat anything!
All I can suggest is drink lots of water, nothing else! Avoid milk, it curdles, avoid fruit juces, they burn!!!
And suck lots of mints or chew mint flavoured gum.
My sickness stopped after 15 weeks, but it made me miserable!
Good luck!
