The slander, the obscenities, the name calling, the hate mongering.

People bashing the president, the liberals, the conservatives.

Is this what we really want in a Question and Answer forum?

I can understand when someone goes off once or twice, but when wackos are constantly spamming Answers with hate, I find you can pull up a list of all their questions and answers and tell if they are really spammers, and report each and every one of their abuses, pretty soon, their points drop really really low, and Yahoo! answers may even drop their ID.

This would work a lot better and faster if everyone were to look at all the previous questions and answers of the abuses, and if they find previous abuses they have not reported, to report them.

Honestly and fairly report abuses, don't use abuse reporting as a weapon against freedom of expression.

God Bless America, and God Bless Freedom of Speech!

Yes, most definitely!

Freedom of Speech is extremely important and necessary but the Abuse Rules in Answers do not impede freedom at all -- what they do is attempt to make the site a place where ALL can participate and provide intellectual answers to questions instead of stooping to the lowest common denominator of society and thwart the purpose of the site. Luckily the definition of what constitutes abuse is clearly stated in the Community Guidelines to the left each time you answer a question. While I am sure there are people who abuse the reporting system, I feel sure that those "in charge" look at every report and evaluate it. No one should be reporting people for simply not liking their response, that is a violation of the Guidelines as well and you risk being penalized for your report.

There is no such thing or place in the universe that lacks laws and rules (law of gravity, law of matter, law of.....) So all of the anarchists need to stop looking for it, trying to create it, and advocating a mythical land of total freedom.

However, I have been sorely disappointed that Answers is a place where intellectual debate, discussion, and opinion are continually and constantly interrupted by some abuser. It is rare to get through a single set of answers without at least one person breaking the Community Guidelines -- how sad.

I agree this site should be cleaned up but have given-up on the concept and simply created my own group that is private so that perhaps the "think tank" qualities and potential Answers has can be realized in another private forum.

The majority of the people here want to follow the rules and provide real answers and opinions but as always the few spoil the productivity of the many. I am not easily offended and am not a control freak when it comes to what people have to say but am a strong advocate that anything can be and should be said with respect and tact. It may take a little longer to remove the curse words, your individual prejudices, and other abuses but it will make you a better thinker, writer, and will ultimately help you grow as a human being.

This site should bring people together and educate the masses instead of propigating ignorance and creating more hate and disrespect. It is disappointing to me that even here we see a mini-version of the global issues we face and the seeming hopelessness of finding a solution because people refuse to change or filter themselves for the greater good.

Sorry for the speech on the soap box, but you started it, you woiaebwinz! I can't stand it when people make me think!

LOL! Great Question. I can't wait to read the Answers!

if yahoo cracked down on all complaints and kept disabling accounts people would get pissed and stop using this forum, after a few weeks they'd have disabled so many that they would have severely restricted the number of people on here (who by posting and answering also look at page ads) and therefore a full on crackdown would hurt their ad revenue, and thats something they don't want.

In this, I'm glad they're rather liberal with some areas of this board- some areas there is no trolling, but in others (such as politics) there is alot.

(Although I did get pissed when they said I violated their posting guide when Cindy Crawford asked how we could work to curing cancer and I told her that more girls growing up to be doctors instead of models would be a start)

You can report them all you want, unfortunately, they will just
return with a new nickname, avatar or both.
I really don't think Yahoo is paying attention to these questions
& answers because it seems like they're too busy dreaming
up new stuff to add to this site.
It is disturbing to think young teens are seeing the bashing &
hate, & hopefully, they won't think this is normal adult behavior.

Hey Captain America! Who appointed you the protector of spam free Yahoo Answers? Go ahead, waste everyone's time with your anti-spam tirade... who exactly is pro-spam? The losers on this web-site have WAY too much free time on their hands, but still won't lift a finger to join your crusade. Do everyone a favor and read a book!

Have a nice day

It is good to report abuse if it is actually against the community guidelines. It is not good to report people just because you disagree with their opinion, which a lot of people do. Disagreeing with Bush isn't against Yahoo's rules.

u know what? I feel that sometimes people go overboard with the reporting. Someone may say something really terriible and don't get reported, where someone can say something like 2 points and get reported.

they dropped my ID after i answered 1,300 questions so now i can start over i think reporting people is retarded just because people don't like what you say doesn't mean you don't have the right to say it

That's all politics is nowadays. Hate. Ever since Willy was caught with his pants down, the liberals have been pissed and seek to be devisive on everything.
