if it is the original engine without any work done to it, no, 455 is not a great engine for super chargers anyway, the top half of the motor weighs a ton and the bottom half is weak- you will definitely break a connecting rod or destroy the crankshaft. Superchargers are great and look impressive but the engine will need a total rebuild and need to be specially built to handle the boost from a supercharger. Not to mention you need a rock solid tranny, rear end, drive shaft and suspension to keep that power on the road. start with a fresh engine rebuild, racing tranny and 4.11 rear gears- I think you will be quite impressed and after that build a motor built for a supercharger- they require special pistons, con rods, etc...

What type of supercharger, Roots, Paxton, etc.?
How much boost pressure?

Your question requires a lot more detailed information. Some superchargers require beefing up the main bearing caps and connecting rods as well as reducing the compression ratio.

For a short time it can.

Your car is a system. Many interconnected parts that are just good enough to get along with all the other parts that are just good enough.

If you throw more power or stress into one part then the other parts around it fail.

I had a '65 GTO. Started with the motor, intake and carb, had to go to headers to work right. Extra horse power trashed my clutch, then Tranny which were both upgraded. Then the rear end went. Finially twisted my drive shaft, then busted an axle.

Your system needs to be balanced or things break.

All that changed on the Olds was deck height so cams and heads were physically interchangeable. I am fairly certain that the intakes were different for the tall decks (wider). You want to carefully research things before you start swapping parts around. Some combos are good for some applications some are bad.
