And how much education in biology is needed to be a forensic specialist? And how much for a science teacher?

Forensic science is a tough nut to crack. It's a four year B.S. but there arnt many jobs available. Remember a government(state/local/federal) has to hire you....and jobs are very competitive.

A science teacher is the same amount of school...a four year B.S. and usually a secondary ed minor. It might take five or six years because of the ed. However, after that...there are tons of jobs and you can do it anywhere in the country you like.

I think the best idea is to to a bio or chem major as an undergraduate and then plan on a masters degree in forensic science. I think having the masters degree improves your job outlook somewhat.

depending on where you want to teach, a master's degree may also be required (new york, for example, requires a maser's degree)
