Mine was Alanis Morissette's Jaged Little Pill. To this day I still have it and I love it to death!

When I bought my first CD player in '87, I bought four CD's.
Yes.... I still have them.

Rush - "Hold Your Fire"
Joe Satriani - "Surfing With The Alien"
Genesis - "Nursury Cryme"
Yes - "Close To The Edge"

Thus, began the arduous - and expensive - task of converting my various forms of music into CD's.

To col parker: I remember those bulky cardboard containers. I used mine to make a giant collage - which, to this day - hangs on the wall of my garage. I just can't seem to part with it.

I hope someone older than me weighs in here so I'm not the token old guy naming weird bands no one has heard of...

My first CD was actually given to me by my uncle. I was probably in 6th or 7th grade so this was right around 1984/85. CDs had pretty much just come out and they were really expensive - minimum $16 a pop (probably $25 in today's money). So to get even one CD was a really big deal. Most of us still just had tapes or albums.

Anyhow, the CD was Joe Jackson's "Steppin' Out". I had never heard of Joe Jackson at the time and thought it was a pretty weird CD to give to a 12 year old. I listened to it maybe once or twice and it ultimately just got absorbed into my parents' CD collection. I think a few years later, when I was in high school and used CD stores had become really popular, I traded it in for something else.

The first CD I actually bought was the first Boston album. This was the summer after my freshman year in high school and I had my first summer job working at Stanford University. I remember I got my first paycheck and rode my bike over to Rainbow Records to buy it. I was pretty stoked on it...in came in the big long cardboard box and everything.

(For anyone too young to remember, CDs used to come in these super long oversized cardboard boxes because they were afraid that the little CD jewel cases would be too easy to steal http://www.dio.net/pictures_cd/dream_evil_us_longbox.jpg )

The amazing thing is, I stil have it to this day. It looks pretty scratched up but it still plays just fine.

I got my first CD when I was 10. It was probably some 90's craze thing, like some old Nickelback stuff or Creed. My since of mind in music has changed a bunch. I listen to HIM, CKY, AFI, My Chemical Romance & Blink-182 now.

Yes, If I had my first CD, I would probably still listen to it.

My first CD I got for Christmas one year with a new stereo system. It was No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom. I still have it, I don't get rid of any of my music. But I haven't listened to it in quite some time!

That's funny, "Jagged Little Pill" was the first cd I bought. I don't still have it though. I think I played it way too much. I replaced it though a few years back.

First CD I ever purchased, Type O Negative, Bloody Kisses. Alas, an old boyfriend made off with it right after he started sleeping with my so called best friend.
