Is the slim type good or should I buy the thick ones

I personally prefer the old thick ones. Had mine for close to three years now and it still runs fine. Knock on wood. My friend has a slim one and it heats up really quick. Though it usually don't cause a problem I don't like the idea of having such a literally "hot" system.

Best option is to buy new from a well known dealer, such as Wal-Mart, Best Buy, K-Mart, etc etc.

My personal experience is that the slim fits better into alot of entertainment centers, but is more fragile. The thick one is alot more durable, but not so easy to manuever into smaller entertainment centers.

If no small kids will be playing with it then I would go slim. But as a father of 3 kids, the thick one is built to last !!

Save the money and just purchase a new PS2 from Circuit City or Best Buy; if you worried about the make/model, ask to see the lot # on the box, it will tell you when it was manufactured.
