Its like 1 in 10 or 20 yrs globaly. Infact in 200 years of recorded history in Australia only 3 people including our beloved crocodile hunter have died though there are 100s of reported stings every year.

I've swum with them and they are larger than you think but very friendly. The guide told us that no one that he had taken out had ever been stung (but I suppose he would).
Someone on the TV the other night said that the number of deaths was in single figures.

i read that only 7 people in the world have been stung and died from it, one of them being steve irwin. however alot more die from the infection that they dont get treated. but only seven have died from the actual sting not the infection

crocodile hunter was the second off the coast of australia since 1940's. not sure worldwide.
