Back in the early 80's, these new wave bands dominated the charts and gave other established bands a run for their money.

I am going to have to go with Duran Duran. John Taylor was so incredibly hot and their music was cutting edge .. at least at the time. Still have a huge collection of their stuff too. Come on .. Hungry Like The Wolf, New Moon on Monday, I'll Take The Dice, Rio … tons of awesome tracks.

Spandau Ballet has the appeal even today in the UK and parts of Europe. However, Duran Duran defined the new wave sound of the 80s.

Culture Club, Duran Duran, and Spandau Ballet --- in that order.

I've always liked "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me", which most of the homophobic jocks in high school wanted to, when they found out Boy George was gay.

Duran, completely... they were good then, and though I don't like what they've done since the 2nd album, they are still musicians.

Spandau dropped off the charts in the 80s when they made those racist comments at some benefit concert, and now one of the guys is an actor without any big parts.

CC... what can I say, BG is still a junkie and his latest community service was doled out for lying about a break in... was he going to attempt insurance fraud if he wasn't nailed so quickly?

Gotta bypass with Echo and the Bunnymen. They were the most self-defined band and the least self-unfavourable. Spandau Ballet is only a one-hit ask your self, Tears for Fears self-destructed- similar for subculture club, yet CC turned right into a fireball of destruction. Duran Duran is unquestionably the most prolific and universal, yet they were continuously meant as a commercial act. E & t B rode alongside at a tangent, some commercial fulfillment yet that wasn't their overriding problem. they in basic terms took their music the position it lead them and that i must respect that.

Duran Duran, look at what the original line up did when they were young and what they are doing now when they are even sexier!

...and then they were all killed by the Vampire Biker Babes! The End.

Seriously, I named my daughter "Rio" after the Duran Duran song, not because I like the song that much, but because it's a cool name.
