I want to install a wall to divide my kitchen and dining room. How do you do this? Is this hard? Is it something a determined DIY'er can do, even with minimal experience? Thanks!

It is something that can be done.. If you not done it have a friend that has done some building give you a hand and learn from them.

You need tools, a tape measure, saw, hammer, etc, etc.

You need to get an idea of how wide to build a standard size door opening if you are going to put a door up.

You lay out your top and bottom 2x4 plate measure out on 16" centers to place your studs. You need a double 2x6 header above a door or windows.

It's not that hard to put up a wall. You just need to make your observations and plans first, so that any potential trip-ups will be known to you, and you will know how to deal with them.

There are plenty of of books at Home Depot, Lowes, etc, that will show you how to put up such a non-load bearing wall. Building the wall from lumber is straightforward, if you have the correct tools. Finishing the wall with wallboard, and spackling/taping it is a bit harder, more challenging, but still do-able.

You can do it, but it's not that easy. You have to get the lumber to create the frame and then basically dry wall it. If you want to do it yourself i'd reccomend getting a book from lowes or home depot.

If you are asking how to install a wall, then you shouldn't be the one doing the work. Hire a carpenter.
