Would you accept any at all? What if it just specified that no alimony would be payed if infidelity occured? And if you would be willing to, how could he ask without offending you?

I am not down with prenups. To me it's saying that you don't have the confidence that the marriage will last.

I don't think there is any way to approach this subject without at least some initial offending happening.

If you really feel the need to have a prenup, I would at least sweeten the deal by giving her double what you normally would if the infidelity occurred on your end. Also, if you both stray then the prenup is void, i.e. she would get what she would normally get. None of this well she cheated 15 minutes before I did, so no alimony for her.

I think it's only worth it if one person is very wealthy, and one person isn't. If they are both very wealthy, then it's not as important. Lots of people think of prenups as preparing for divorce, but a marriage is an investment in many ways, including merging finances. You deserve protection. I would not have had issues with signing a prenup if my husband was a millionaire and I was making very little. First, just ask her what she thinks about prenups in general. Then go from there. You might find out that she is very comfortable with the idea. Best of luck.

I'm not that keen on prenups for most people, but in some cases it makes sense.

- In cases where one party is extremely wealthy - to the point they are likely stalked by people who want to marry them for money.

- In cases of significant inherited financial wealth. Why? A couple should share their lives. If a couple splits after a few years, I'm not sure the ex should be entitled to a substantial portion of the wealthy party's ancestors work. The ancestors left the money for their family and descendents, not their descendends former flames.

The whole idea of prenup's is insulting and offensive. What a way to start a marriage. It's almost as if they are saying this is temporary and when I tire of you I want to be able to dismiss you with the least amount of trouble. Also, my character is immediately questioned simply by asking for a prenup. I find the whole idea distasteful and unnecessary. But I can't even imagine being with someone who would even find this necessary. If they are that materialistic or fatalistic, I wouldn't be with them. Peace.

That is up to the individuals getting married. Prenuptial agreements are becoming more and more popular even when individuals are not wealthy. If this is important to you then you should have discussed it prior to engagement not now.

Yes - I'm independently wealthy and would expect the same from the other person. I would not marry without one.

if you're entering into a committed relationship, why would you be unfaithful? if you're thinking about this now, don't enter into the relationship. pre-nup, why not. if i'd earned a weathly lifestyle, i wouldn't want to waste it on someone who would be unfaithful.
