I tell you what. I am 23 years old and tried to hit a golf ball once for the first time this year and it is harder than you think. Hurt my wrist when the club hit the grass and missed the ball by like 2 inches short. my friend was pretty good and he explained the game that made me resprct it. Because he is mediocre and when he hit the ball he explained it like this. I was not able to hit the ball and he was like imagine how the proffessionals are able to launch them balls over 250 yards with acuracy. making the ball land no more than 5 feet from where they want it to go. I could not do it and that was the first time in my life I respected golf. For now I know. But it is very boring, don't get me wrong. But now I respect it.

You won't understand this but golf is like a martial art. It involves self mastery and discipline, focus and concentration, physical and mental techniques. It can be a serene experience, spending hours among nature and your only real competition is yourself. The club is a sword, certain styles are even called blades and the ball is the opponent. You try to position you opponent, make it move left or right, stop it where you want it and then finish it off but burying it the cup. It is an easy game to learn and very diffcult to do well. No one has ever mastered it.

Golf is a great game that can be played by anyone young and old and you don't need to be a pro to enjoy it. Only if you want to improve your game and someday try to qualify for the pro tour do you need to develop your skills. But for most of us duffers, it's all about getting outside and enjoying yourself (and try to shoot a good score). And yes, I am an oldie but I took up the game when I was a teen.

Golf , pool and bowling are perhaps the only 3 games you can enjoy without have to be great at it. Not everyone likes them .. some do and most of who do do it coz these 3 games can be played by absolutley anyone. Other games like tennis, baseball, football, etc needs some athletic ability which is not for everyone unless they are in very good or at least in Ok shape and fitness.

It is a sport designed for people who used to play REAL sports in high school or college. So they can still feel like they are athletes. It is a sport for old folks, people who like drinking beer while playing sports, and guys who can't stand their wives and desparately need to get out of the house. It is kinda fun, I must admit. I get it, but what I really don't understand is how people watch it on TV. How boring is that?

It's fun to play. I prefer miniature golf over regular golf. But it is one boring sport to watch.
