Depends on what you mean by system configuration and what you really want to display.
I'll take a shot and guess you want the network configuration
ipconfig /all - shows your TCP/IP configuration for every adapter.
If you want the hardware, there isn't a way. Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information --will do it from Windows.

When you system is booting just press the pause key and show them the configuration... you can see the CPU speed, Memory Capacity, Harddisk type, CD ROM and DVD ROM, and also the other detail of the system... you need not boot into windows for this... hope this solves.. you can also enter BIOS and look for further information...

Try "ipconfig -all" This will give u all config related to Network
Host Name .
Primary Dns
IP Address. . .
Subnet Mask . .
Default Gateway
Also if u want know the system properties jus keyin
"sysdm.cpl"
