Stay out of Kingston.

Don't agree to a guided tour of the jungle from a local.

Don't buy pot on the beach.

$10 will get you the fattest, gooiest stalk of dank that you've probably ever seen. DO NOT attempt to bring pot back. Give what remains to a local or another traveler. The dogs are heavy coming back in from there....

Get very familiar with the currency conversion and pay in THEIR money or your going to get ripped of.

Don't isolate yourself to a closed inclusive. Your going to miss a lot of what Jamaica is about. Mix with the locals and they will take VERY good care of you... just don't go into the crime hotspots and don't go out alone for a 'tour' of the 'real Jamaica'....

Nagril is what I consider to be a perfect spot for travelers. Locals take good care of you, not too big of a town, far from the airport and boats but not too far.....

Don't flash American cash...

Every car is a taxi. Don't be overly concerned to hop into what looks like a regular car for a paid ride somewhere in town.

Bring America items for trade... cosmetics, old jeans, Marbs.

Make sure your roadside jerk chicken is cooked all the way through.

Don't bring anything too valuable and don't leave valuable in your room. Use a safe.... Your in a third world co. with many many very poor people. Though be aware that messing with travelers is quite taboo... Most know who is buttering the bread.

They may have the best bananas in the world. They taste like sunshine.

Respect...

Jamaica is an island nation of the Greater Antilles, 240 kilometres (150 mi) in length and as much as 85 kilometres (50 mi) in width situated in the Caribbean Sea. It is 635 kilometres (391 mi) east of the Central American mainland, 150 kilometres (93 mi) south of Cuba, and 180 kilometres (112 mi) west of the island of Hispaniola, on which Haiti and the Dominican Republic are situated. Its indigenous Arawakan-speaking Taíno inhabitants named the island Xaymaca, meaning either the "Land of Springs," or the "Land of Wood and Water." Formerly a Spanish possession known as Santiago, then the British West Indies Crown colony of Jamaica, the country's population is composed mainly of the descendants of former African slaves. It is the third most populous Anglophone country in the Americas, after the United States and Canada.

My info-

I went there and I LOVED IT!! It is one of the best vacation spots ever!!
