Control top has that extra heavy-duty panel at the top to keep your tummy in.

Sheer toe means it doesn't have that darker, extra knit stuff on the toes (make them stronger in the toe area, but looks awful in open-toed shoes).

Sheer-to-waist means that they are the same, sheer knit from the toes to the waist -- best for dresses with a slit or shorter skirts where you wouldn't want that darker "upper leg" area to show.

1. Control top- Means the pantyhose has a panel in it to
help support your tummy, it kind of sucks you in and
flattens you out.
2. Sheer Toe- You do not see the toe edge of the sock,
most pantyhose have this seam near the toe area
with sheer toe you don't have this. This way you are
able to wear open toed shoes without this darker area
showing.
3. Sheer To The Waist- Means that these type of panty
hose don't have the dark area on them. They are ones
that are the same color from the foot to the waist band
With these pantyhose you can wear short shorts or
even a swim suit, you have no lines.
4. Tip: when buying pantyhose always buy one size up
it helps from getting a run. To stop a run use clear
nail polish, it stops the run..
5. Bonus:Support Hose- these are pantyhose that give
you total support from your feet to your waist, these
are great if you are on your feet alot...
6. Another Term:Opaque-means you can't see thru them.

Control top has a tighter panty at the top to help control your tummy bulge and usually has a reinforced toe. Sheer to waist means just that, there is no difference in the weave of the fabric from toe to waist. Sheer toe means the toe isn't reinforced and looks the same as the leg-easier to use and wear for opentoed shoes but also easier to snag.

Control tops have a panty at the top to tighten up the belly and bum a little and smooth you out. Control tops are nice if you are wearing something a little clingy and want to be sure to have a sleek appearance. An added bonus is that they also smooth out those nasty panty lines. Sheer to waist is just the nylon hose...no added support. Sheer toe has no added reinforcement to stop those runs at the tips of the toes. Reinforced hose have extra material at the toe.

If you are looking to try control hose, try ones with light support. As for sheer hose, I think they run too easily. I prefer no hose at all, especially in the summer.

Sheer to waist are very sexy since they are the same sheerness from the waist all the way down. Control top has more compression in the waist to thigh area.
