I'm sorry, but the recorder just plain blows.

In Britain, is is practically mandatory that all children must learn recorder or else they will fail at life and get bad grades. MWAHAHAA! Well, that's what it seems to me. Seriously though, I think learning an instrument to a basic level is a part of the primary school curriculum

See if the school's music department offers lessons. If not, enquire at some local music shops, which should point you in the right direction.

P.S: 'Paddy', I get it... recorder... blows... XD

Helpful to know where you're based? And the level of the learner, and their age, not forgetting the qualifications of the teacher.

£10 an hour is a good starting point for London assuming this is GCSE level Music.
