The tapering was initially designed for night use in so much as the "door" closed quietly as opposed to banging shut and waking those sleeping in the house by letting them know what you had just been busy with.. Isn't the body thoughtful?

It's because further up the colon, feces are the softest, being the most recently formed material, and therefore having had the least time for the colon to absorb water from.
The sphincter is probably more or less uniform in pressure, and compresses the softer material more.

cos your sphyncter is open at it's widest to let them out then closes up towards the end of the action. You could easily have worked this out for yourself while sat having a crap if you hadn't been w@anking.
