I know that Fox had a failed sit-com called "That 80's show", but still technically "That 70's show" was in the 1980's wasn't it?

The very last episode of "That 70s Show" (which just aired this year) ended with a New Year's Eve party at Eric's house in 1979. The episode concluded with the cast counting down to the stroke of midnight, 1980. A very fitting ending, I thought.

I don't recall them actually saying what "year" it was when the show started. But if you notice-the licence plate at the end of the beginning credits reads 79'(of course I've also seen it say 77') and that wasn't too far into the series. Either way if you go according to that-it definately went into the 80's-otherwise they just F'd up.

I thought the last episode saw the start of 1980. I didn't see the the episode, so I don't know how much of it was actually set in 1980.

It was a completely different cast made during the peak of "That 70's Show" but it was cancelled because it didn't have the same following. "That 70's Show" would go off the air four or five years later.

Yes, I think at the end it went into the 80's, but I never watched it that far.
