Hi Perry,
Although I try to avoid all forms of modern medicine, especially pills in all formats, I was recently forced to take some anti-depressants, used mostly as a sleeping aid than for my so-called "depression".
I heard the stories about how these pills affects your libido, or worst yet, actually render a man temporarly impotent. It was something I dreaded ever happening, which is another reason to avoid taking pills altogether.
However, the odd thing is that the pill I am taking now doesn't seem to affect either my physical or emotional libido. In fact, one could say I actually am hornier than ever, much to everyone's surprise, especially my wife! I don't know the "why" or "how" this came to be, nor can I offer any logical explanation for this, but it seems that either:
A) I am a "mutant" male who doesn't react to medication the same way others males do;
B) The medication I am taking is either so mild or designed so that it doesn't affect libido.
My wife also told me about a friend of hers who was rendered temporarly impotent due to the anti-depressants he was taking. I also knew a guy who became temporarly "limp as a noodle" after the doctor prescribed him "PAXIL". He actually gave up the drug without his doctor's concent, simply because he wouldn't deal with the lack of "firmness" down there!
If your own problem is a persistant one which cannot be worked with, I also would suggest you contact your doctor ASAP for an alternate medication. Either something different or a milder dosage.
Hope this helps a bit!

Usually, if anti-depressants are causing erectile dysfunction, you could get a doctor to prescribe some viagra or cialis. Although, if you are on meds for depression, you probably have bigger problems, although impotence makes it worse.

Tell your doctor. There are other medications you can try. But that is one of the side effects. You just need to find the med that will work for you.

Wellbutrin is one that is supposed to not have that side effect - check with your doctor about this & others. It may take a few trys till you find what works & doesn't have side effects that are unacceptable, so be patient & keep your doctor informed.

Talk to your physician and he/she can try another treatment.
Unfortunately that is a major side effect of anti-depressants.
