I'm a very light skinned Mexican guy with blondish hair, and I love Asians. I'm just so attracted to them. I think they are beautiful people. I've always been so interested in them, today I actually work teaching Japanese and I'm learning Chinese. Some people say I have an "Asian fetish", but I don't understand why they call it a fetish. I know many people who go crazy for blue eyes, you don't hear people telling them they have a "Blue eye fetish", I never hear people saying people who likes Black people have a "Black fetish", I never hear of a "blond fetish".
Why do they call it a fetish liking Asian people?

It's just another way for someone to put a label on something. I guess I must have a Yahoo fetish...lol

Well, fetish in this case probably means: "an object or bodily part whose real or fantasied presence is psychologically necessary for sexual gratification and that is an object of fixation to the extent that it may interfere with complete sexual expression"
OR
"Fixation: an obsessive preoccupation or attachment"
I would say anyone who is really obsessed with one specific trait in sexual partners has a fetish. I think people can have a black fetish or a blonde fetish or a blue-eye fetish. Not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe people who don't have fetishes are missing out. Or maybe people who do have fetishes are missing out on everything else. I'd say if you are only really interested in asian women then it wouldn't be wrong to call it a fetish.
The real problem is, if you are mainly interested in them because of their bodies, then you could be missing out on someone you'd really love if you don't want to date them because they are not Asian. But if you really like chinese culture and thinking and everything, then it's probably not a problem to have that particular fixation :)

It must be the people that you are talking with. I have lived in Asia for most of my life (I am white) and speak both Cantonese and Mandarin but my affection for Asia has never been called a fetish. More over I am also Buddhist.

Its just a name because the concept is unfamiliar to them, I mean surely theres not very many Mexicans who are dating Asians in the world, whereas there are loads of black/white couples.
