I'm a poet and have never heard that stereotype before. I've studied with several incredible poets that began their careers in the age range you mentioned.

If you want to publish your book, get out there and do it!

i never heard people expecting that...i know authors and poets to publish their first book between ages 30-50 im pretty sure slyvia plath was between 30-50

They expect poets between 30 and 50 to put their poetry to music. That's not always a bad thing. Poetry books are not appreciated as much as music anymore.

Hmmm I am a writer, 34, and have tuns of poetry maybe i should change those odds.

Na the novels sound much more profitable
