If you knew what you know now ( the govenment isn't going to help pay for your cancer treatment at all.)

Would you still go to help the world trade tower victims. Knowing you might have cancer in a few yrs, and could possibly die.

P.s i was going to BMCC College at the time of this tragedy which is a few short blocks away. and ther was another BMCC building next to the towers that was knocked down when the towers fell. i was affected however the students and teachers who develop respitory problems don't qualify for benefits. Its a shame. When i found this out it was the icing on the cake.

These are the tragedies of any "act of war".
It becomes a matter of legalities, I suppose.

If the government, (the citizens of the US), were negligent and shown to be at fault, for injury to another citizen, there is a legal responsibility by the government to reimburse them for their injuries and suffering.

Aside from the legal responsibilities, the government can decide or not, to do this. I'm sure that the amounts of reimbursement to families of the dead victims may be considered an extreme, certainly by those who received little or none.

I hate to think of an atomic attack on America, or even anything similar to the destruction that Europeans suffered in WW II.

I doubt that any government could cope with that. This is when everyone must become involved, physically and financially.

You asked about the volunteers who are suffering and would they do it again.

I believe they would. If physically able, I believe they would be there in the event of another catastrophe.

One more reason why America needs Health care.

why did you ask this question several times?? - Gotcha - thanks for clarifiying. :)

Anyway, to answer it Yes - i would still help out. It is human nature to want to help out and you can die tomorrow in a car accident - don't worry about the future b/c today may be your future.

I don't think the govt' should be responsible for it (the healthcare costs) - i mean it was a huge huge huge tragedy and nobody could have foreseen that kind of destruction and a lot of people were affected either directly or indirectly - I lost a good friend from high school who worked in one of the towers. All the toxins in the air were there from the mass destruction. Bldgs were built with materials that ended up being harmful in the long run but nobody really knew that back when the bldgs were built. ANd normal expsoure to them wasn't enough to do any harm but with everything - the jet fuel, the smoke, the toxins and pollutants from the bldgs in the air, it was A LOT and of course people would develop some kind of problem from the long-term exposure.

If you live long enough, everyone will eventully develop some kind of cancer at some point. Everyone is born with cancer cells in their body it's just the exposure to the toxins that cause your cells to mutate that cause the cancer. The city did it's best to clean up the mess as did the government.

I am sorry that you have problems from it but if you are alive and kicking and writing these questions on yahoo! answers, you are better off than a lot of others.

Everyone lives and everyone dies. It is just the way it happens. You should do what you feel is right. Are you willing to choose the path they may end in a horrible future for you like death. Free will. If you know you might not die as a hero for helping but just die in another way not so you would be a hero. Look in your heart and see what is best for you. Either way you will die some day, so will I and so forth.

Did a plane hit the other BMCC building or did it fall from explosives like WTC 7?

I agree it's sad about the medical help that they are not getting but with all the news coverage it's getting I am sure that will change soon.

Does it ever make you question where did all that money go that we sent??? Wasn't this the stuff it was suppost to help with?

People find themselves in situations that require them to participate in some manner. Whatever their reasons, they jump in and do what they can at the time. Helping and surviving take precedence over other things.
