Given that I may be the only one to have seen the original film, La Femme Nikita, I will say that one. And not that crap-tacular Bridget Fonda stinkfest. The original even has Jean Reno, soon to become a Besson favourite, in a small role. It was one of his first.
But I just can't shake the great acting, incredible story, dark humour, and tension of Leon - The Professional.
Besson makes some interesting films. He finds great material and does wonders with it.
Final answer: The Professional. But La Femme Nikita is a very close second.

Leon. Jean Reno, Gary Oldman and Natalie Portman in one film, all brilliant, great story and acting too. But I'm still trying to find The Big Blue on dvd. I saw it years ago and really liked it, but can't remember enough to know if it's better than Leon.
