How long have you been over here for mate??? The bank of N.S.W. no longer exists. The name was changed years ago to Westpac. I would get in touch with your bank in Freo and see if the account still exists as a while ago the good old Aussie government declared that if a bank account is inactive for some time that they will close that account and seize the assest. (good old government, hey?) If you still have an active account then all you need to do is go into your Halifax Bank branch and tell them you would like to transfer money into your Aussie account and they will give you all the paper work required. You will need to know your account number and your BSB number (your bank in OZ will tell you this if you don't know it, when you call them). This will cost you around £12-£20.

You can do a Bank transfer- it is free for UK to UK banks, however there is a charge for overseas transactions. Ring and see. A Bank transfer can be done over the counter, over the phone or online.
You can also send money orders or cheques, which can be cashed at www.auctionchex.co.uk, if your local post office won't do so.
There are also payment systems online, such as Paypal, Nochex etc. But Paypal's a bad one for chargebacks, so make sure they won't want refunding!

Transferring money between countries is a real pain as the banking systems are seldom compatible. I found paying off my Canadian student loans to be such a hassle. The easiest thing in the end was for me to write a cheque in pounds, post it and get my dad to deposit it in the account in Canada. The penalty for converting the currency was much less at that end. Banking fees in Britain are outrageous.

Not sure if you can transfer online between foreign accounts.. I have had money transfered to me recently from a Spanish account and it was done using SWIFT. I also paid for something for my work and had to do that SWIFT, although this carried a £20 fee from the bank. Your bank helpdesk will be able to advise.
