I *hate* the whole "What to expect" series AND I *hate* the "Girlfriend's Guide" series as well. There are much better books out there with better information. The GG series is just mom to mom advice, so if you're looking for referenced information you won't get it from that book.

Pregnancy:
The Pregnancy Book by Dr. Sears
Your Pregnancy Week by Week by Curtis

Birth:
The Birth Book by Dr. Sears
The Birth Partner by Simkin
Birthing From Within by England
Husband Coached Chidlbirth by Dr. Bradley
Choosing Waterbirth by Bertram (sp?)

Breastfeeding:
The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding by La Leche League
So THAT'S What They're For by Janet Tamaro

Baby Care:
The Baby Book by Dr. Sears
Caring for Your Baby & Young Child: Birth to Age 5 by the AAP

I really never found a favorite. I had the usual, What to expect when you are expecting, and it had some helpful info, but also had so much stuff in it to make you worry for no reason. So take what you read there with a grain of salt. And I also had the Girlfriends guide, which was also ok since it had a lot of stuff that the "bible" did not have, but had a bunch of nonsense in there too. I especially loved the maternity clothes guide in that book. So unless you weigh 100 pounds and your husband 200 hundred with a big gut, you will not be passing off his clothes as your maternity clothes. I guess though with both of these books you should be able to have all your questions answered.

the most acceptable e book by technique of a techniques is Mayo health midsection handbook to a healthful being pregnant. i'm also pregnant - 25 weeks. i began interpreting the similar old--what to assume once you're awaiting. i did not like the way it jumps round with the oftentimes requested questions...and a large kind of the e book appeared to scare me more desirable than help. The Mayo health midsection... e book is going week by technique of week (no longer by technique of month like what to assume...). It also has an index of indications. That way if you're experiencing a particular component on the time you could look it up and bypass properly to it. i'd really advise it!!

The Mayo Clinic Guide to Pregnancy and Baby's First year.

It gives you important information regarding your health and how your little one is doing from month to month as well. ALSO very important information once the little one arrives and what to do, what to expect.

I agree with the What to Expect when you're Expecting, but I ALWAYS recommend the Mayo Clinic book to my friends! It also gives you information about prenatal tests, birth weights, etc...

GOOD LUCK

The girlfriends guide to pregnancy. It was a fun book to read, and told me a lot about what was going on with me. She was really funny...like paint you toes and shave legs when going to the doctor, its the least you can do..he has to see too much of you for nine months....and appreciate the compliment, but you do look pregnant from behind.

I like the web for info about what was going on with the baby.

Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can NOT stress that enough. It speaks to you like your best friend would. Gives it to you straight. Whatever you do......DO NOT start reading "What to Expect When...." It will make you insane with worry. And every little symptom that could be a very serious thing you will soon "develop" it will make you crazy. Stick with the "Girlfriend's Guide"..... I promise you'll love it
