I think its just like a basic instinct for people to fear the unknown or anything different from them, cuz they cant understand it, you know? Which leads to uncertainty, cuz the less information you know, the less control you have over the situation. Lack of control scares people. Why that is? Hmm..well this might sound a little star-warsy of me..but maybe its bcuz in some small way..and deep, deep down, people are scared of their own dark side? And not just their own, but of others...and whatever darkness lies within in the "unknown" areas of life. But yeah, this is just really a theory of mine, im not really sure what the deep reasons are for the insecurity that comes from not being in control.

Symptoms of fear of the unknown are breathlessness, dizziness, excessive sweating, nausea, dry mouth, shaking, heart palpitations, inability to speak or think clearly, a fear of dying, becoming mad or losing control, a sensation of detachment from reality or a full blown anxiety attack

I think that humans like to have some sort of control of their enviroment, therefore when they venture into the unknown it scares them. They don't know what to expect
