also take into consideration when answering this question that steve reportedly said that if his death was caught while filming he would want it shown

the bottom line in this argument lies with the family...if they feel it is right to see the death of steve doing what he loved doing then that would be the case....only they will decide and i hope if they do they charge an arm and a leg for the benefit of the causes steve espoused........i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

There are NO pro's about it. ESPECIALLY since his very young children may see it and it doesn't really have anything instructive to teach. It was a tragedy, it should remain private. People nowadays have no boundaries when it comes to a celebrity's and his /her family's privacy. This isn't a freedom of speech issue, you don't have a right to know.

If you died tragically would you want it broadcast to world for your children, grandchilren to see and keep as their last memory of you?

I hope the Irwin family never allows it to be shown and if CNN or Fox or some news entertainment show here or in Australia or anywhere gets it they have enough principles and integrity not to show it.

Unless there is some important mystery solved or lesson to be learned that can only be determined by a public showing of his death (there isn't: he was filming in the area of dangerous animal and there was an accident), there should be no reason to show it - especially since the family has publicly stated they do not want it shown.

I would like to know why Steve felt it important to show his death should it be filmed? He must have had good reasoning and thought it through knowing that his daughter and son might also be one of the ones who would see it. If Terri decides to show it I am sure it will be done in such a way that it will be well thought out and she will protect her children just as much as Steve would have. I am sure she will do what is right.

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand I think it should be shown...only once, with the family knowing it was going to be shown so that they wouldn't make the mistake of watching it. On the other hand, I feel it might be disrespectful to display such a horrible event. If it does come on, I will probably watch it though...

I think if all of his family wants to see it and after they all have. Kids also. then and only then should it be shown to the public.
I think it will be many years before the children see it.
I don't think it should be shown unless the kids see it. If the family don't want them to see it then why should it be released and get in the wrong hands and the children see it by mistake.
I think we should think about the family first before we think selfishly.

No. No one's death should be glorified. His family has the right to mourn peacefully and without having to worry about whether or not his death will be aired on the evening news.

No it should not be shown. Give the man and his family privacy. Would anyone want their death to be shown to the world and their family? I know I would not want that.

I think that what all has happened that we need to let his family morn in peace and as far as the tape being viewed on TV . that should be strictly up to his wife and family.

i read an article to day she should consider what is at hand and let that place berry him in honer . for he was a great man and will deeply be missed by my kids.they watched that show all the time . my son asked what will happen to the show will it go on?

no I think the tape should be destroyed. think what would happen if steve and terris kids turned on the tv and there it was. that would be horrible for them. if it is not destroyed then give it to terri and she can do with it whatever she wants. let them remember their dad and husband as a healthy guy. let them have good memories.
