Well, if Lennon were alive, he would still be out there cranking. Unfortunately for John, Paul has been going 26 years after his untimely death. They both were/are creative in their own vein. It's a toss up. An easier question would be answered this way. Lennon's name appears first on Lennon/McCartney compostions. Some feel it has more to do with the alphabet. Some say John is there number one as the real leader all through the Beatles career.

McCartney I have beeen a mega Beatle fan for 44 years in the 60s spent many a happy night outside Beatles Houses and Abbey Road studio, it has to be Paul cos he had it all but John was Great as well and George no but Paul is and will always be No 1

Lennon has taken his chance well on the right flank of Englans 4-4-2 formation, however Mcartney has yet to be selected and is destined to play lower league football for the remainder of his career, surely this should have been a sport question.
