and children, if any. In this day & age I see more & more same sex couples doing the"family" thing as well. Heres my question: What if a man & a woman didnt want to marry or live together, but wanted to just have a child together? Share the responsibilities & expenses & live life in peace. Realistically, does anyone find this idea retarded or do you think it could work?

I dont think that there is a single thing wrong with that scenario. Unconventional families are the wave of the future. What matters is that the children are thoroughly loved.

I think in some senses it could work. For instance, my man and his ex girlfriend have a child together. They weren't really trying for one, but God blessed them with one anyway. They're both perfectly happy to live apart, not marry, live life in peace, etc. BUT! Of course, there's conflict. Just because they're not wanting to marry each other doesn't mean they don't want to get marrie.. so you bring in another 2 people raising a child. Now you've got 2 parents, 2 step parents..... all with somewhat different backgrounds, different parenting approaches, etc. It makes it difficult. I think while, when it HAS to be done (as is the case of my man and his ex) people are capable of working the situation out, if it's not necessary.... I think it's best to stick with SOME sort of family unit. In the same house, with the same set of parenting goals, one mom, one dad, direct chain of command, etc

I answered this question first with out reading it properly. You wanted to ask if it were alright to have a child with out getting married or living together? I find that harsh. Infact I'm quite speechless.
what makes you think that living seperately would bring peace? Then you could not be thinking of having that child with someone you had any affection for to begin with. If so, then what would be the point?
