We had our hot water heater break and it wouldn't drain. My husband had to drag it to the floor drain which caused a few scuff marks. I tried 409 and those Magic Erasers and it didn't work. Can I paint them?

Toothpaste works on black scuff marks.

To remove heel marks, take a pencil eraser and rub them off.

To remove black scuff marks from floor, rub them with a paste of baking soda and water.

To remove black heel marks from floors, simply spray with hair spray and wipe clean before it dries.

Use a brillo pad on floors to remove black scuff marks. It keeps the shine and actually cleans the floor. It works great on stains of any kind. Use soapy pads that are damp and just gently rub in circular motions until the stain is gone.

Take a paper towel or old cleaning cloth and put a little dab of mayonnaise on the cloth. Rub on scuff mark, and it will come out. Be sure to spray an all purpose cleaner (glass cleaner works) where you used the mayo. This will insure that the floor is not slick, and no one will slip and fall.

Spray WD-40 on the scuff and then just wipe clean with a cloth.

For black scuff marks on linoleum, use the bottom of your tennis shoe, just press and rub.

For marks on linoleum, use the flat, green scrub pads. They get the mark but not the finish.

Black scuff marks on linoleum will come out if you simply rub with a dry paper towel.

Black scuff marks on linoleum come out best if you simply rub with a dry fingertip.

To remove skid marks on linoleum, rub the marks with nail polish remover on a cotton ball.

Use a typewriter eraser to rub heel marks off of a vinyl floor.

The best thing to use to remove marks from a vinyl floor is paint thinner. Don't over do it. After you remove the mark, clean the area with soap and water. If need be, reseal the area with a good sealer. Check with your local janitorial supply house for a good sealer.

While wearing rubber soled shoes rub your foot over the scuff marks. This works for me most of the time.

try some rubbing alcohol. or maybe a little paint thinner. Fingernail polish might be enough to do the trick. Oh before you try those I would try a light abrasive cleaner ie. softscrub, or comet , maybe a med. grade scouring sponge to use w/ the cleaner might help, GOODLUCK!

You might try a fine grit sandpaper to lightly remove the marks and the very top surface of the tile.
