Get rid of fruit flies by setting out a container filled with 1/4 cup of vinegar and one drop of liquid soap. Set it well away from the fruit and it should keep the little blighters away. Any fly passing will be warded off by the smell

Are you sure they're fruit flies? Normally they stick around whatever food source has attracted them. Highly unusual for them to leave the fruit.
Do you have house plants? If you do they could be shore flies or fungus gnats. They get all over the place. They usually occur near (in the same room) as houseplants. Overwatering is the cause. If they are in the same room as houseplants, cut way back on the watering. Let the soil dry out between waterings. You need to do that because the larva of both these pests are in the soil.
They don't hurt the plants--they're just pesty.

You probably will not believe this, but try it any way. In Charleston, SC, the outdoor diners use a small zip lock bag of water. It is suspended from the ceiling. Somehow this disorients the flies and they stay away. I've tried it and it works pretty good. Let me know how it works for you.

My brother loves going round swatting them. He confirmed me an total laptop conceal comprehensive of fly aspects. verify homestead windows, doors, and the kitchen. each so often they get trapped in plastic produce luggage. Then, once you open the luggage, the flies come out. BTW, does your next-door neighbour have a fruit tree it is dropping fruit throughout their backyard yet which they have not been raking up?

First, get rid of the fruit flies. Once all fruit is out of their reach, they'll die in a few days. Next, the flies are in larvae in the fruit. When the fruit is ripe, they hatch. So, you cannot leave overripe fruit out on the counter. Either take it outside, or once it is ripe, put in refrigerator.

take a 20 once bottle (or other plastic bottle with curved top).
cut off the top of the bottle, but leaving the inward curve.
put a few cotten balls into the bottle or wad up some toilet paper and put that into the bottle. poor in some vinegar, enough to cover the cotten balls (or toilet paper).
place around your fruit fly infestation. they are attracted to the smell of vinegar, and will get trapped on the bottle.
do this and they will be gone.

I would use one of those bug bombs that fogs the place, not too expensive although sometimes a hassle, but I know they work wonders... and will get rid of any other pesky critters that might be setting up this time of year to populate!
