what is the reason for people to hate people who choose to have an affair?

is it because it's one of their own biggest fears? to be cheated on by their partner?

other cultures have a different few on the subject. why are westerns so uptight about it?

This hate is mostly towards women who cheat ... not men .. most of times. It is the stupid patriarchial society thing. plus most people who hate others who are having an affair are mostly coz they fear that it could happen to them.

because most people go into a relationship with the idea that it involves 2 people not 3.and there is an element of trust being broken by the other person if they have an affair.the cultures that don't mind "affairs" usually let the man off but condemn the woman to the point of excluding her or worst.

I think one reason is they fear of being cheated on by their loved ones, but women out there also like me have a hard time dealing with cheaters whether it be a man or woman cheater, cause it rips someones heart into pieces and tears up lives. To me when a woman cheats on her man, it makes me feel like the woman is making other woman look bad and cheap. I hope that came out right. When a man cheats on his woman, to me, I would never be able to trust again or if I did the poor man next would have to do a lot of stuff to gain the trust. It's not right.

Well, yes, most of us fear our significant others will cheat on them and when we see it within our friends, we tend to either 1)hate the party who did it or 2)see where that party is coming from if they are our close friend.

But an affair is a hurtful thing. You invested emotion into someone and trust, only to have them step all over it. It's disrespectful.

If you can not commit yourself to one person, you shouldn't enter into a monogamous relationship. DATE and make it clear to the other person you date more than one person. Less feelings hurt, less heartache.

People who have affairs prove themselves to be selfish and dishonest. They are hurting the person they supposedly love the most. How can anyone trust them in any other aspect of life if they do something like that? It proves by their personality that they are not one to be trusted.

Marriage is supposed to be a vow of loyalty, among other things.

This is not just about sexual affairs, it also has to do with emotional affairs.

I see it like this....If your going to cheat why get married? When you get married you take a vow to be with that person (and that person only) for better or worse. If you know your not going to be faithful then get a divorce or stay single. If you have kids you would not want someone having an affair behind your son/daughter's back.

While you may very well "choose" to have an affair...they are two in the relationship..if you're honest with your partner about it then I see no problem with it(that's your business).But as we know that's usually that's not the case...and personally it wouldn't be the sex that bothered me but the lying would....but that's just me.

Well mostly it is because of things like AID'S and Sexually transmitted diseases but herpies rates right up there too. Knock yourself out with all the affairs you want I happen to like my body parts and it isn't worth the risk to me. It is not a matter of Hate it is simple dislike.

Speaking as one whose husband had an affair at work (we're divorced now) - for one how the hell can you stop your husband from seeing someone he works with?. Single people who have affairs with married people are utterly selfish and don't think about the misery they cause.

Thinking back I wish I had bashed her friggin face in when I saw her after my marriage had broke up she deserved it.

Maybe because vows were taken to be faithful, loyal & true. I completely trust my husband becuase he fears me big time. Women who seek married men in my opinion are whores.
