Don't bother calling the police as they will not be interested - unless you can provide them with evidence that suggests that a break-in is still in progress! (I know, I've done that!) All you can do is call Environmental Health and report it as a noise nuisance. They will contact the home owner and give them a warning. The home owner is legally obliged to inform Environmental Health that they have an alarm and give details of a key holder, but most people don't do this, and there doesn't seem to be any real consequences. If Environmental Health kept getting complaints about the alarm then they can prosecute the home owner for being a noisy neighbour.
If you know the neighbour, you could have a polite word with them next time you see them - they might be embarrassed about annoying their neighbours, and obviously wouldn't know that it had gone off for hours, unless you tell them.

Police won't be interested. Call your local environmental health office. That is what the police told me when I reported an alarm going off over the road at 11.30pm. I explained that I wasn't complaining about the noise, but genuinely concerned for the elderly lady who lived alone there. They then shamefaced sent a patrol car to make sure she was ok. Fortunately, she was, but is very hard of hearing and didn't hear the thing going off.

If you are in the UK complain to your local Council's Environmental Health Department (before they close for the weekend). The noise amounts to a statutory nuisance and they are required to take action to stop it. They can get a Warrant to enter the house, if necessary, to turn the alarm off.

See if they have a Yard notice of the Alarm system or one in the Window, call them if you can find that info. Call the Police, they might know who to call.

Look on the outside of their house (maybe on a window) to see what service they use to monitor their security system, and then try and contact that service to notify them of your delima. I'm assuming that you've already called the police about this. If you don't know of any relatives to contact, I would try looking for a main breaker or some kind of switch to their power even if its is a garage. you may have to buy some really good earplugs, Wal-mart has a good selection! GOODLUCK!

Have you told the Police? They may have knowledge of a key-holder who can visit the premises and turn the alarm off

By law an alarm should not ring for longer than 20 minutes.
Report it as noise pollution to the environment agency.

If you call the police then they won't be able to act upon it (assuming that you are in the UK) but you can contact Environmental Health at the council and they may come out to you, although you might have to wait until night time.

Call the police department or go look and see if your neighbor has one of those signs telling what alarm company they use and then call that company and tell them to do their job.
