I ask this question again since the people in the religion&spirituality section are a bunch of morons.

I don't believe in astrology but I want to read the point of view of an expert who studies this.

I'm not an expert in the field of astrology, but I am studying it seriously.

Classical, traditional, and medieval Astrologers do not use the outer planets: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto in their delineations, modern Astrologers utilize them. The traditionalists still practicing today will continue to ignore the outer planets in their delineations, just as they have always done.

Whether or not Pluto is classified as planet or not is irrelevant to modern practitioners of Astrology. The qualities associated with Pluto: power, control, transformation and the destroying or reforming urge, are still applicable whether it is called a planet or an ice dwarf.

Astrologers know from studying charts for 76 years, since Pluto's discovery, that Scorpio is co-ruled by Mars and Pluto. That will not change.

Astrologers use other bodies (not just planets) in our calculations, such as asteroids. Ceres, an asteroid, one of the bodies they may call a planet, already is in use by modern Astrologers. Other asteroids currently being used are Juno, Pallas, and Vesta. Chiron, a centaur, is also extensively in use. Chiron is believed to be ruled by Virgo. Non-planetary bodies can be ruled or in dignity by one of the 12 zodiac signs. Another example of that is the lunar nodes. In Western Astrology, the North Node is Exalted in Gemini and the South Node is Exalted in Sagittarius. The North Node is in Fall in Sagittarius and the South Node is in Fall in Gemini.

It makes do difference as to what Pluto is categorized as, planet, ice dwarf, or whatever the astronomers come up with as a classification system, the characteristics associated with it still stand.

I am not an "expert" in the field but a prominent one, Robert Hand, said on NPR that he is going to use it since astrology is different from astronomy. Some astrologers use Chiron, Ceres and a bunch of the other astroids.

The American Museum of Natural History's Rose Planetarium never had Pluto displayed because Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson never considered Pluto a planet. He said if it came towards th Earth it would melt because it is ice, grow a tail and become a comet.

In a nutshell, I am chosing to take Pluto out of my chart. Scorpio was ruled by Mars before the discovery of that ice ball. Now, I guess it may be ruled by Mars again until another planet is found.

The horoscope is two planets short. Libra and Taurus share a planet also.

It has no effect.Pluto being an outer planet, along with Neptune, and Uranus work below the surface in ones chart. Pluto is Hades planet, lord of the underworld in Greek mythology. Most people look at the reclassification of Pluto to a dwarf planet as a demotion. I'm sure Hades looks at it like a promotion, making it easier to work just below the surface. I would agree with your moron statement and add if your not one of the sheep in their flock your an outcast really closed minded people when you get down to it.

i having been learning astrology for two years now and i learnt that pluto was a planet, i have seen the effects of pluto work in an astrology chart, so i am not going to let a reclassifaction of the small malific change anyway i read or understand a chart, so it really hasn't changed much for me personally

astrology has little to do with astronomy, basicly they can agree on where the planets are now ... and thats about it. however if you look at it this way in astrology looks at asteroids, for different aspects of a chart, like chiron, ceres, palas. and even sees the moon as the ruling planet of cancer... so id be pretty safe to assume the elimination of pluto will not have mutch effect on astrology

The Vedic astrology of India never takes cognisance of Uranus , Neptune and Pluto. So even if they remove Uranus and ,Neptune it would not make any difference to Vedic Astrologer

It doesn't make any difference because Pluto still exists they haven't picked him out of the universe. Pluto still has the same effect on a natal chart as it ever did before.

Eliminating Pluto from your Chart? Then you eliminate one of the aspects of your chart you should probably look the closest at. You can't just run away from your problems and things, you have to face them eventually. Why not now?

Scorpio's ruling planet was Pluto but now it will be Mars. That's the only thing I could think of that will change.

I saw a top astronomer on CNN who said that they have NOW decided that Pluto will remain a planet! They just had to confuse us...:)
