I speak as I find, and I find that Americans need to get out more. Out of their country, I mean.
I have met many wonderful Americans, but they all have one thing in common: I didn't meet them in America. The Americans I met while I was in the USA were (with one exception) pretty far from wonderful.
There is an old statistic that something like 90% of Americans don't have passports. You guys, basically, don't travel. Hardly surprising, since you have everything you could need right there in the USA - skiing, beaches, deserts, big cities, casinos... why travel?
Maybe this is why I found the stay-at-home-Americans to be amazingly ignorant of the world at large. I don't mean they're stupid; they were all intelligent and educated; they just didn't know very much about very much. This ignorance could (and did) drive me mad on a regular basis. Having said that, you couldn't find a friendlier bunch of people anywhere on earth.
So... before I waffle on into the sunset... my opinion of Americans is mixed. And I really, really think you guys should get out more.

Well i have very positive views about American culture, its a kind of mixed bag with people from around the world living harmoniously together and prehaps the greatest thing i like about American culture is that everyone is given an equal opportunity to show their talent with no bias at all, your attitude towards your work is all at counts in the American society regardless of your religion or race, that is why this country is able to attract the best talent from all over the world.Regarding president Bush i am not at all convinced of his foreign policies and hoping that Hillary Clinton be your next president.

My opinion on the Americans in generally good. They have to work to earn their money and just want to enjoy life as any other human all over the world. Their culture as it comes across in the media seems a bit to much money and status orientated. But i suppose if you grow up in such an environment it seems to be normal. I think shows like MTV Cribs where people show off their wealth enhances a negative view on American lifestyle. But those rich people only make out a very small percentage of the population in America. You can also here in the media that many people in America get exploited like having to work in two or three jobs on minimum wages just to be able to feed their children. Now, i have never been there myself and it is difficult to form an objective opinion.
W.George Bush is doing America no favor in view of its reputation in the world.

I am a huge supporter of the US, I support president Bush more than most Americans do. I would love to immigrate to the US. Most people outside the US, however, see Americans as being full of themselves because of a number of factors. Eg. how do you have a world series if only american teams are participating?

They are generalised into the capitalist greed-fest we see today. I think America should be split up into it's states (maybe grouping some states together) so that individual governments have better control.
Not all of them are bad. Alot of them are lazy, but so am I. Their government is appalling and should be replaced, however it should be replaced by a president for each state, so the amount of power won't corrupt nearly as much.
Alot of American culture appears so be wasteful, you produce enough food to feed the world by yourselves, but it's either over eaten or thrown away. (or is so pumped full of chemicals I wouldn't even launch it into space for fear of what it could do)

i am from Colombia and I have been living here for two years. The first thing that surprise me was that most people here are not very friendly and do not care much about other by themselves. It has been very hard for me to make friends and the ones that I have are actually from another country not from here.
But there are some things that I like, for example, the organization and that most people like to do think in the right way

I find that Americans are nice people. For most whom I have met on the net... They are very friendly. But I don't know why the other of my family members don't really like the whites. I find them okay. Aren't they humans too? I have a good impression on Americans.

I have no problem with the American's culture or their president, because we are all different regarding those matters.
But what i dont understand is that 'most' americans i came in contact to is very ...uhm..'discriminating'. Just because someone is not like them, they try to bully them. ... It's difficult to explain here...ergh..
but i do know that there are many AMericans who are really nice and down-to-earth

Where to start.. Well in my opinion, American kids are the most rude, undisciplined children in the world!! If I had to talk to my parents like these kids talks to theirs, I would have gotten such a spanking!! They are such brats!!! But that is just my opinion...
