Monostat 7 was on the list that I got from the dr. when I went for my first appt. for things that were safe to take when pregnant. It is very common durring pregnancy and I had several infections with my first pregnancy and was glad I could use something. The Dr. also told me that if I had an infection late in my pregnancy I should make sure to treat it because he said that the irritaion could cause unnecessary tears in the vagina during delivery. So being only 4 months along you can let it go away by itself if you want, but if the itching drives you nuts then treat it, no reason to suffer.

First suggestion is that you talk to your OB... Next, which is a non-medicinal way to treat yeast infections - eat yogurt. Yes, I know, it sounds weird. I hate using Monistat, and.... at least a few years ago it was recommended to not use it if you were pregnant, and the best way to treat a yeast infection was to eat yogurt. It doesn't matter what kind, I don't much care for yogurt, so I usually get the cheapest kind that has some exotic flavor that sounds good. For me personally, I usually buy about 4 little cups of yogurt and eat them over two or three days. By the 4th day all should be better.... Oh yes, and not treating it, I think could cause problems for the baby, not to mention the problems for you, I once had an infection so bad that I was literally running a fever....

Christi,
Yeast infections during pregnancy are common and they can be treated very easily with doctor prescribed medication. Don't use any over the counter preparations, they might harm the baby. There is no need to go through the misery of having a yeast infection...just call up your primary health care provider and ask to speak with the nurse and she can suggest some remedy too. Thats what I did and wasn't disappointed.
All the best!

Treat it. Monistat is fine. I had my first yeast infection during pregnancy. It itched so much that waiting was not an option. Do you really want to try and wait it out? It could get alot worse before it gets better!Just try to eat yogurt once a week till you deliver so you don't have to deal with this again.

Yeast infections are soooo common during pregnancy. I would check with your OB just to be sure, then treat it with Monistat or similar.
Besides eating yogurt, throw out the nylon panties and pantyhose! Not sexy, I know, but the good old 100% cotton panties are the best.

YES IT CAN HARM THE BABY!! WHEN I FOUND OUT I WAS PREG I HAD A YEAST INFECTION AND THEY GAVE ME A CREAM AND IT WENT A WAY.. BUT I WOULD GO TO THE DR BECAUSE YOU MAY NOT HAVE A YEAST INFECTION AND WITH YOU BEING PREG YOU WANT TO KNOW FOR SURE WHAT THE SICKNESS IS AND YOU CAN TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM! BUT AFTER MY DAUGHTER WAS BORN SHE HAD THRUSH IN HER MOUTH AND THAT WAS CAUSED BY ME HAVING THE YEAST INFECTION!!!

They are very common in pregnancy so this may not be the only one. You need to treat it. When this happened to me, my doctor told me to use Monistat 7 ONLY. Eating yogurt regularly is a good way to try and prevent future infections. Good Luck.

Talk to your doctor before inserting or using anything vaginally. I know being pregnant causes natural moisture to exist and will continue throughout pregnancy. Make sure its really a yeast before taking anything! Definitely talk to your doctor first!
