Sounds like a good idea now but I have reservations.
I'm planning on having a lot of fun when I'm old doing those things. The first thing I'm going to buy is one of those mobility scooters with a top speed of 8mph. I will go up and down the main street in it and create mile long tailbacks in the morning rush hour. Then I will drive into the supermarket, block aisles and knock displays over. When everyone's attention is distacted by my antics I will of course be shoplifting. If anyone tells me off I'll shout "I can't hear you, I haven't got my hearing aid in" and if I'm caught stealing I will pretend I've got Alzheimers and don't know who I am.
I will spend my pension on lottery tickets and toffees and shake my head and tut at children. I'll also have a walking stick to whack peoples legs with and I'll be able to say anything I like, because I'll be old. I might even dye my hair blue.
I'll be getting away with everything.

You've missed the point, chum. The elderly have imposed a curfew on you. That's why you have to stay at work all day.
You're neatly out of the way and you're paying for the pensions and the free health treatment.

You know some local groups arrange outings for pensioners, trips to the supermarket in particular and most feel they are being pushed aside by younger people!
What i would like to see in supermarkets however is the following:
- Creche to keep screaming children out of the shop
- Big signs "Do not block the aisle with your trolleys"
- Week night for women shoppers only
- Week night for male shoppers only
- Fast till to only take under 10 items, not more!
- People paying by card ... To do so at another till
- Chatting between check out girls and friends banned while
the rest of us has to queue and queue waiting until they
finish chatting!
I think that's about it LOL

YES YES YES!!! Keep them off the roads BEFORE 10 am. Just because you've got a doctor's appointment at 10, does NOT mean you need to leave the house at 7:30, for God's sake!
I feel bad for them, with their little hats on, all white knuckled & hunched over the steering wheel - driving 15 mph BELOW the speed limit IN THE PASSING LANE - I wonder if they know why everyone's giving them the finger?

No, that's dangerous. They could plot our destruction a la Caesar while we're not about. A better option would be to impose a curfew so they never get out. After all, what are they going to miss? Falling down stairs and breaking their hip?

When do "we" work? You assume everyone works 8-5. I for one do not. Most Saturdays I work . I also frequently work evenings in my job (retail management).
How about curfews on any other particular group we don't want to be around to keep "them" out of "our" way?
That is a very dangerous idea that infringes on the freedoms of people, yes they are people, who face challenges that others may not face. Putting restictions on people that are "in your way"
for whatever reason is very self-centered.

You know I think this should be the case. I work 8am-6pm and everynight you can never get a seat on the bus home because it is crowded with OAP's who have been at the shops. Why can't they go during the day? Why do the have to come home at rush hour?

As entertainingly self centered as your suggestion in, you do raise a good point about the reasons we get annoyed with retired people.
In the face of many older people repeatedly complaining about the "young people today", a great proportion of them show no manners, patience and are often far more rude than younger people - often to a level that shocks those who come into contact with them.

I can't see this working because even if they were only let out once we were all safely in the office chances are they would take all day to drag their tartan trolley about and get their cat food and just be on their way home at the same time as us.
