Dragons - Fact or Fable?
Apart from the Kimodo Dragon, which isn't really a dragon at all but a lizard. Where did the dragon originate. They appear in practically every countries history in one form or another and usually can breathe fire, Since they do appear so frequently in historical/mythological documents there must be an element of truth in it. However, there is no physical evidence & why did they disappear?

Dragons were present in the Mythology of very different cultures long before there was any contact between them (Medieval Europe, China, etc.). So, we have some reasons to believe there is some truth behind the myth.
Theoretically (National Geographic made a documentary about it) a giant flying lizard could escape the events that caused the extinction of dinosaurs. Crocodiles lived in the same age and they made it this far.
As for the "magical" abilities of dragons, like flying and throwing flames of fire, they could be justified by a combination of gases produced by the animal that allowed them to weight less than air and produce an ignition.

no body knows where the dragons really originated because there are hundreds of stories involving dragons from different parts of the world. Maybe the closest thing or theory about their disaperance is that when dragons fought each other the loser will be burned to death and we all know that being burned to death would surely carbonize bones and flesh turning them to ash. the ash then scaters throught the air and poof no more dragons. There maybe no physical evidence but there surely is a pictorial evidence of a living dragon devouring a human found in stone tablets. We cannot agree that the dragon legends originated from dinosaur bones because there are pictorial proof and witnesses that dragons lived with humans and killed humans for food.

Some people think that many dragon legends are based on our ancestors digging up dinosaur bones and skulls. There was a lot more interaction and exchange of ideas between ancient cultures than we usually imagine.

For the guy with the bible quote: Get real. Just because its in the bible doesn't mean it really happened. That is just one book that was written and translated by humans, to base any argument about history or science on one source, especially one that isn't independently verified, is sheer foolishness.

And the national geographic 'documentary' was a spoof for goodness sakes!

The dragon fable came from the idea of the kimodo dragon. recently watched a tv program telling us where most of these fables came from and the kimodo dragon was put down as the reason for the real dragon tales.

A book I read from a vermonoglist stated that there were two full skeletons found in a Scotland Cave of an "unknown" dinosaur that had a wing span large enough to support its own weight in flight. They were sent to the University of London for carbon dating and were found supposedly to be only four hundred years old.
Can the source of the information be trusted? I haven't a clue. But it does pose the question of if remains were truly found would the governments of the world actually release the information because it would basically cause history to be re written.

I know there is at least one dragon.

Revelation 12:9 "The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him."

I also know that many scientists tend to be arrogant and boastful about human achievements in science, when, considering that people did not create the heavens and the earth, there is a great need of wisdom and understanding. There is MUCH we do not know. God holds eternity in his hand, how do we compare to this?

If we only have the bones of dinosaurs how can we conceivably know whether they could produce fire or not?

As to why did they disappear...If you lived in the age of something that could burn up your home, crops, family etc wouldn't you form a resistance movement of some sort and kill all of them?
