You know, I totally agree. I think there was a judge that brought that idea up and he got slammed for it. After Katrina there were 2000 sex offenders unaccounted for. They were even staying in some of the shelters! (I know it is another topic about the disorganization in La. after the hurricane.)but, after that happened I was a wreck because some of those shelters were near us!
There have been so many studies with factual findings that say these offenders don't change, so we as a country ought to vote on the topic. There are people who talk about their rights but did these monsters consider the rights that they took away from these innocent victims? To correct something you have to go to the beginning of the source, and that would definitely be castration!

This is a very diffcult thing to answer as it raises so many emotions. I used to think like you but have been blessed by my husband who has opened my eyes. A couple of years ago I lost a very important person in my life who I thought the world of. She was killed by someone who must have been born evil and died at his hand. I wanted the worst thing possible to happen to him. Chain him to a wall and beat him to within an inch of his life then when he healed to do it again. I went on for years like this until I met my husband. He told me that I was a beautiful person with many great qualities. He told me that my anger was blemishing them and that this was eating me whole. I learnt to let go of the hate and really think about it. Punishing them after the event doesn't really help the person they have assualted, it certainly does nothing for the hurt and doesn't bring them back. It makes us as bad as them really. An eye for an eye? Where does it end, death? What happens if we have the wrong person. It has happened, then they are penalised for nothing. What we really should be doing is supporting these people before they hurt someone, they are sick and definately need help to find and fight the problem.
I agree, keep them away from children and the ones they hurt. If need be stick them in hostels and have security monitooring them daily. Society has failed, and offers no support to victims, families. We are all to ready to beat down the ones that need help rather than really look at why they are like that in the first place. These offenders may have been hurt as children themselves and are following the theory of an eye for an eye. Maybe if we created a better society who watched and supported people these sick killers and sex offenders wouldn't get the chance to do anything and in the long run we may even be able to turn a few around. It sounds an idealistic world I know, too good to be true. However, thinking like this has made me a better person who is calmer in myself and doesn't hate the world anymore. I see the beautiful person she was and remember the good times. As for her killer, he is paying his price being locked up, it doesn't need anything else....

Pardon my asking but just how do you intend to castrate a woman?
I know a man and his wife who were convicted of being a sex offender ( him ) and aiding and abetting a sex offender ( her) because they were naturalists and their daughter was from the wife's previous relationship.
She mentioned at school that her father walked around the house in the nude and everything went up in flames from that point on.
I am in no way condoning sex offenders. I think those with real problems should never be released into the community, but castration....? I don't think so.

I think it should only be child sex offenders because we need to be sure they are a true sex offender and not someones ex-wife getting revenge! Although that wouldn't be such a bad idea in some cases LOL!!!!!!!! Thats just a joke ,But seriously I know people that were caught and arrested for indecent exposure (peeing outside) and when they went to court they were put on the sex offenders list. Don't know how that happened but it did. So i think there needs to be a rule change on that one.

Unfortunately castration in itself does not solve the problem. It does not stop the way these peoples mind work. They can still commit acts of depravity and sexually violate. The mental urge is still there. We either need to put these people to sleep ( as you would a mad dog ) or find a deserted island to dump them on, somewhere they can survive on but never never escape from. Why should we live in fear of these people?. I have children and grand children, so I feel very strongly. They can wreck the lives of entire families just to satisfy their own sick perversions. I get angry just thinking of it. We are far too soft on these people. The human right act protects them, but should they have such rights? they are not human !!!!!!!!!!!!! PS. I do not say these things because I think we should look for revenge or even justice, but the fear that these people will re-offend and re-offend because they cannot help themselves. We try to put them back into society but there they endanger everyone else, mainly the innocent children, is that right???

Calm down, what if females do it? The reason I don't agree with you, apart from it being barbaric, is that, feminists have managed to expand the definition of Paedophilia, rape and similar sexual crimes to include offences that vary enormously in gravity. In their zeal to entrap men into as many offences as possible, they are actually helping to undermine the severity of genuine child abuse and rape committed by a total stranger, at knifepoint, say. Sex between an eighteen year old and a fifteen year old, comes under the same general heading as the sexual abuse of a child, which is clearly ridiculous. So, that definately needs sorting out first. Would you still feel the same if it was your husband or your son?

I do. That way they can never commit sex offenses again. What a horrible thing to do to a child. I am appalled at the amount that sex offenders get away with. They permantly damage a person by their sick actions. They need an accountablity outside of themselves. There is something wrong in their head and they need help.
I would only condone it though if it was a proven fact that they commited the crime.

Count my family in. I think most of our punishment is not harsh enough.
Even for me, I had a DUI and just 3 months later I was driving drunk again. I have subsequently decided that I cannot drink anymore, but I did offend again. I should have had 3 months in jail and I would not likely have risked your lives again. Enough about me.
Castration for Sex offenders.
GPS and curfew for murderers
Eyes out for Child pornographers.
Take license away for 2 years for DUI first offense.

Sure castrate them, but you need to cut off the star of the show. Snip it nice and short, that way there is NO chance of reoffending. Like a bow & arrow. Sure, you can take away the bow, but the arrow is actually doing the damage. Take away the arrow. And yes, it really ticks me off how easy they lot of those people. It makes me wonder about the judges...
