Of course you can touch someone with words, delivered in any form, if the person receiving them is receptive to the meaning.
A talented individual may even cause you to lose your breath, your heart to hammer loudly within your chest and to have you become so hopelessly smitten by them that you scream with anticipation at the thought of seeing the words softly spoken from their lips...

I think that it is a nice phrase. In our world today, the only way we can talk to friends and love ones that are not close to us, is through the telephone, it can be said therefore, that the telephone makes it possible for us to "Reach Out And Touch Someone."

There was one old telephone commercial about “reach out and touch someone.” It was on TV long time ago. For whoever reason that came to mind this morning. Like the internet has made it possible for friends to find one anther after decades of no contact. I see it all the time on message board’s people searching for friends. You can Google people’s names and there are all kinds of ways to find a long lost friend. Many times its cause somebody know somebody and you know how small world it is. The Internet has made it even smaller.

I think ATT, it was on a long while before computers and it just meant stay in touch because the person you call will be touched and feel good. It ran along time so it ust have been effective.

If you reach out and grab the phone, you're emotionally touching someone (as opposed to physically touching them).

it really is quite sweet.
you could touch a life by calling a down and out friend... ...
she would be really touched that you care so much.
though, it really is a win-win kind of situation:
you reach out and someone's life is touched.
meanwhile, the telephone company's earnings soar.

You have an inability to think past your fingertips. I wouldn't be surprised if someone called you on the phone, if you looked inside the mouthpiece and started crying "how did you get stuck in there?"

it was AT&T I believe, and what they meant was.....calling someone and reaching out and touching them in a sentimental way.
