Are you ever kindly disposed towards people selling The Big Issue and do you then buy it to help them out - or perhaps you genuinely enjoy reading it? Should the publishers branch out a bit and have a "his" and "hers" edition and maybe one you could buy for children at certain times of year (eg school holidays)? Do you give money to beggers anyway or do you studiously try to avoid them? Do you think that being able to sell The Big Issue has helped to reduce the number of beggers who would otherwise be all over the place?

No-one so far (3.30 pm) has commented on my fabulous idea of having different categories of The Big Issue - maybe I should approach rhe printers directly

I never buy it because it is quite a boring magazine but i do feel quite sorry for some of those guys that stand there all day trying to sell it. Id be more likely to give them a few coins rather than actually purchase the magazine. I would prefer to give money to the big issue sellers rather than standard beggars because at least these guys are trying to do something with their selves.

Yep whenever I am England I look around to find someone selling The Big Issue. I think it is a great idea and it takes the pain out of deciding who to help with my change.
There used to be a lovely young man selling The Big Issue at King's Cross Station who even though he could clearly see that I already had one stopped what he was doing and took my heavy luggage down all those steps for me... and then wouldn't accept anything from me.
That kind of sums it up for me. it helps people who might otherwise have little left retain a bit of dignity.
And no I wouldn't prefer a women's issue I like it the way it is!

From my office where I work the local Big Issue seller looks well shabby, this was further confirmed when I see him regularly taking a piss into the air conditioning unit out the back of the Barclays Bank and then sitting down right next to it. I bet his Big Issues come with a little extra cover mounted gift. To put this in perspective there is a public toilet about 2 minutes walk away.

No i don't buy it because i don't like it if!!! I always give the seller 2 Euro and tell him to keep his copy for anyone interested. I don't know that the big issue stops people begging in the street, certainly not in the big city (Dublin) but where i am, north west Ireland, nobody sells it and no one begs in the streets either. Then it's pretty rural anyway. But whenever i go to Dublin then i see beggars everywhere and i really can't afford to give them all something reason why those selling the big issue get 2 euros from me

Not all Big Issue sellers are beggars, some are just down on their luck having had to leave home through no fault of their own, we had a lovely guy selling them in our town a good few years ago, I used to get him a sandwich and warm drink in the winter when I saw him, he was at university and couldn't cope because of family issues, he dropped out, everything went pear shaped and he ended up on the streets, after years of selling the big issue he finally managed to get himself accommodation, a job and study part-time to finish his degree, he now has a great job and a family of his own, guess he was one of the lucky ones, but he certainly wasn't a beggar, he earned his money fair and square.

hi Vet. sparkling partitions do no longer fairly difficulty me yet i think of this is extreme-high quality to place purely some issues on the wall to customize your tastes. My own opinion for why some thing like that ought to hardship somebody is that it makes the area look barren and with out life. you like stimulation and a feeling of belonging. it ought to have some thing to do including your formative years or possibly no longer. In Iraq it became into probable purely a fashion of feeling related to the u . s . a . and to human beings and issues back living house. i do no longer see something incorrect in feeling the way which you do. it is the way you experience so basically settle for it as component of you and make your self happy. bear in techniques ... the only individual you have any administration over is your self.

My friends boyfriend gave a homeless guy 2 quid (£1 extra out of the goodness of his heart) for a big issue only to find later on that it had all empty pages! it was so funny.

I think it's a very boring magazine and rather give them the money without having to carry it around.
