Depending on the veggies, yes. Peppers, tomatoes, radishes, and any other vegetable that doesn't have deep roots will grow (of course, dependent on the size of the pot). But make sure they get enough sunlight and nutrients (not just water).
Herbs, on the other hand, positively thrive in pots. We still grow them in pots right in the kitchen, and snip off the leaves whenver we're cooking. You can't get fresher than that. And the smell of freshly growing herbs in the house is out of this world. Go for it, you'll love it.

Yes you can, I have a herb garden on my deck and they do very well there. I use a big pot for a couple of the herbs. They do mix well. My vegetables did very good this past year. You can do tomatoes and put either a pole with some form of soft yarn to hold them up or a metal one. I have green onions and radishes in a window box on the railing. You can also get or make a window box to fit on the rail and that makes an excellent container.

Herbs are fine in pots but some need to be planted periodically, to last through the season. Also many fresh herbs freeze well for later use but only in cooking. If you look at seed packets, there are now selections of 'mini' veg that can be grown in pots - I tried some little round carrots which were wonderful eaten raw! Good luck and keep trying/.

Yes, absolutely. In fact it's a great way to avoid slugs and other bugs (unfortunately caterpillars and green flies seem to find their way through so remember to clean up every so often). If you live in very hot climate remember that the patio floor heats up really quickly and this is transmitted through the pot to the earth - for some plants this can be really bad.
One more thing, each plant has a specific water demand so don't mix different types in the same pot (say tomatoes and mint) and water them only when needed.
Happy harvesting!

Oh yes. I have red and green pepper, chilly peppers, basil, rosemary, strawberry etc... I live in Italy though, the weather is better than UK. But espose the to the sunshine and don't water them too much (it rains a lot over there!!!) Use good compost and fertilizer to get better results. With herbs is very easy and you can keep the basil in your kitchen. Good luck. If you need more info, contact me.
P.S. I even planted an avocado seed and the plant came out a couple of months ago..... We'll see what happens (it's in a small vase)

Yes. All my herbs and a lot of my veggies are in pots. Just monitor closely the watering as potted plants tend to dry out very quickly.

I grow all my herbs, chilli peppers, tomatoes, olives and rocket in pots at home - I got used to container gardening when I had a place with a balcony but no garden.

all sorts of herbs can be grown in pots. i have also grown carrots, radishes cauliflowers, cabbage, lettuce and spring onions in pots. potatoes can be grown in tubs by earthing up each time the plants come through the earth. this can be done for a few feet and left for flowers to appear. when turned out potatoes have grown all the way up the shoots and you can get quite a good crop. carrots need deep pots or you can grow baby variaties.
