If your using any Category rated cable they do. There are several standards for this you just have to know which application is going to be used and which standard to wire. T568A and T568B are the most common used schemes of LAN wiring. See the attached link it will explain most and the reasons they are used.

There is a standardized way. It's White-Orange, Orange, White-Green, Blue, White-Blue, Green, White-Brown, Brown. That's for a straight through cable on both ends...for crossover, just switch the Oranges and Greens.
