For the last few days , it seems , there is news of a defense system capable of protecting our troops from Rocket propeled grenades .
True these systems cost a lot around 400,000 or so but do we need to even ask about the cost or who developed it .
I have said all along that war is a business and this is just another in a long series of events that goes to prove my point .
What do we have to do these days to get some responcible action out of our government .
THE mexicans marched in the streets waved flags and gathered to protest being removed from america and it seems to have worked .
They keep coming in and nothing much is done .
Republicans wanted a huge guest worker program that allows them cheap labor and does not solve the problem .
So i guess i am wonddering what will it take for americans to demand anything of our government .
IT was bad enough when Cher raised money and provided testimony in congress for helmet padding to prevent thousands of head injuries and still nothing .

"Yesterday, we refused to go on a convoy to Taji," Spc. Amber McClenny, 21, said in a message she left on the answering machine of her mother, Teresa Hill, in Dothan, Ala. "We had broken-down trucks, non-armored vehicles. We were carrying contaminated fuel."
Operation Truth is a non-profit (501c4) veterans' organization that seeks to "amplify the soldiers' voice in the American public dialogue" in order to "educate the American public about the truth of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan from the perspective of the soldiers who have experienced them first-hand. Many of our government's policies and approaches to military operations have manifested themselves as problems on the front lines and back at home. Whether the subject is the role of private contractors in military operations, the lack of body armor for troops, the closing of V.A. hospitals, or the effects of 'Stop-loss', the men and women who have served and who have returned to civilian life truly have a unique and politically valuable perspective. ... American servicemen and women have a voice that deserves to be heard; the issues and hardships troops face merit attention. Additionally, American servicemen and women have a distinct and important perspective that can influence the American political scene in a powerful way."
One TV ad sponsored by the organization featured Robert Acosta, a soldier who lost his hand in combat in Iraq. "I was called to serve in Iraq because the government said there were weapons of mass destruction – but they weren't there," Acosta said. "They said Iraq had something to do with 9/11 – but the connection wasn't there… So when people ask me where my arm went, I try to find the words, but they're not there." The ad ends with a shot of Acosta removing his prosthesis, revealing a stub where his right hand should be.
These are a couple of examples I found of this problem. I think if we are going to send our troops anywhere for any reason, they should, at the very least have proper equipment. This is an embarassment and a disgrace.
I do not understand how the state of Israel, which we financially support, can afford to give it's soldiers better equipment than we can give our own. Makes no sense at all.

Because presumably a human life is worth a lot less than $400,000. There are thousands of soldiers - and very few lots of four hundred thousand dollars. At least that's the view of the government. If human life was precious would they have let Israel destroy Lebanon just because a couple of their troops went on an all expenses paid trip to Hezbollah headquarters? Have those soldiers even been returned yet? Talk about a pointless war...

That was nice of Cher. People don't like to be reminded about Iraq. My friend is an Army Ranger who just got back and he says nobody really cares that he was over there. He also thinks that Iraq was lost when Paul Bremer de-Bathified the Iraqi Army. He was more worried about IEDs, improvised explosive devices, than RPGs. Americans don't like to protest unless it involves their wallets.

People keep voting party instead of what is good for America. Our country has been invaded by Mexico while our most physically fit are being critically wounded in a useless war, over 9,000 so far. We can refer to the 21st century as the time America died.
