It really depends on the baby. You really can't force sleep on a baby. They will wake up when they are hungry or wet no matter what you do. However as they get older they will be able to go longer without eating making for an easier night. My 3 month old son goes to sleep at 8 and doesn't take a bottle until 1. Then doesn't eat again until around 5:30. He doesn't sleep all night but its a lot easier when I can get 4 hours a sleep at a time.
Good luck...it will get better!

Depending on how old the baby is they won't sleep through the night. Once they are eating cereal they sleep better becasue the food lasts longer in theri stomach. What you can try is giving him/her a warm bath followed by a baby massage( get one of the many books available) then cuddle and gently rock to sleep. You can also use soothing music. Worked for mine.

speaking from personal experience, I put my twins on a schedule. They had 2 short naps during the day, never after 3. They went to bed at 8 and slept til 7 in the morning. During the awake time we played and I read and sang to them. They have been sleeping through the night since they were 4 months old.

how old? It's hard to tell. For the first month, my daughter had to eat ever two hours, come to find out she had thrush (a mouth infection), after that cleared up she was fine. Some babies need a routine to help them "know when it is time to sleep" Give them a bath, read a story or sing a song, and then put them down for bed. That may be good.

It depends how old your baby is... if you're still in the first 8 weeks then your baby will still have trouble distinguishing daytime and nighttime. After 8 weeks, I recommend letting your baby stay awake with you until he/she naturally falls asleep. My daughter is 8 months now, and has slept through the night from 6 weeks old. She wakes at about 8.30am, has 2 good naps during the daytime, then sits up with us until normally around 10pm when she falls asleep and we take her up to her cot. I have heard so many stories from parents who try to put their babies to sleep at 7pm - if you do this, you are pretty much guaranteed your baby will be awake on and off through the night. Hope this helps!

I wish you would have said how old your baby is. The only thing to tell you is to go to the library or book store and check out a book or two on babies sleeping (there are lots of them). Get one that tells you what is normal for each age range.

Bathe your baby in Lavender baby wash by Johnson & Johnson, then feed your baby a bottle with cereal in it or a few teaspoons of baby food (make sure that the baby can get it through the nipple). Turn down the lights and t.v. and rock him/her gently to sleep. It always worked for me unless my baby wanted to play.
