Warriors are always needed, but Warlocks are still my favorite class of all time. Their DPS is lower then a mage's, but they more then make up for it with summons, health/soul stones, fear and DOT's.

I don't play WoW, but this is what I've heard:

Warrior is a well-balanced class. It is generally easier to go solo at the beginning with a warrior class character than with a magic-using character. Furthermore, a warrior also has much better armor than magic-users (who use cloth armor), and can easily switch between being defensive and offensive.

The mage class, within a party, is generally a good back-up character. Mages are good for dealing ranged damage and dealing damage over a large area. They have an interesting array of spells to cast. They can also summon items that can replenish the party's health and mana.

The shaman class is also well-balanced. As stated by the WoW site, they're pretty much "the jack of all trades, but master of none." They have better physical attack than other magic-users, and they're good for buffering party members as well as casting offensive spells. They can also wear better armor than other magic-users.
