We have a 1 month old baby girl, and she gets up like 12am or 1am for her feedings. then she wakes up at either 4am or 6am. I always want him to get up first. and i would get up like either 4 or 6. he dosn't like waking up first. but since i"m on maternity leave right now he wants me to get up all the time while he"s sleeping. and i don"t think that"s fair at all. We should takes turns. I didn't have her by myself. Well currently i'm going back to work on monday So he shouldn't have no excuses not to get up since i'm going back to work.He claims that i don't get up at all during the night. but i figured that if he get's up around 12 or 1 am then i should get up either 4 or 6 or whatever time she get's up after. He always get an attitude when she wakes up and then he takes it out on me (wanting me to wake up instead) Am i wrong in this situation even though i'm not working until monday? I need sleep to it's not just about him alwasy getting sleep i need sleep aswell.

You're right, a baby is not a one-person job. Your fiance should compromise, especially if you're going back to work soon because your baby needs to have a good routine.

He should be helping out. But in all fairness if you aren't working then you should do the lions share. Once you go back to work he needs to pitch in more. Take turns with the feedings. You should also be napping every time that baby naps. Don't do laundry or clean. Sleep!!

well it takes two to make a baby so you should alternate 1 week you do the first feedings the next week you do the 2nd feedings her sleep pattern is going to change anyway the first couple months is hard getting used to getting up nothing or nobody prepares you for that, but i promise you it does get better, you don't want to fight over the baby you learn to deal with it but i suggest taking turns.

I'm sorry but he is being selfish. I did all of the night feedings. I worked but I felt it was my duty to allow my wife some needed rest. I still get up at nights with the kids. I want her to be rested and ready for whatever the day brings. Tell the lazy guy to get off his *** and help.

Friends of mine did that. He got up for the morning feed (your child will start sleeping through the night soon). After he had fed the baby, he would pop him into bed with her. It worked perfectly for them so they did it for the second child as well.

NO, your not wrong...he is! The baby is not one parents responsiblilty more than the others damnit. REFUSE to get up for the first feeding and if he stilld doesn't...do the feeding while singing very very loudly so he stilll doesn't get to sleep through it...the baby will be fine feeding through the singing.

You guys need marriage counseling NOW as it sounds like you don't know how to DISCUSS this issue, and you don't know how to come to a compromise. This isn't that hard to figure out, but counseling might open you up to being able to talk abot this and any other underlying problems you have that you are avoiding.

as you said, both of you brough this baby into the world. if you both have equal obligations, you should take turns daily feeding the baby. it is only fair that the responsibility is shared and divided equally.

You guys need to have an adult discussion about this, preferably during the day.
Yes, he should help, he's her daddy!
Even if its not every night, he should at least offer.
